Getting High or Getting STONED -The Pros and Cons
Some people may ask…is there a difference? Of course there is. Smoking to get high just means that someone knows their limits on how not to abuse the medicinal process. They know exactly what they need to achieve the required attention to their medicinal issues. Smoking to get stoned is more of a way drug abusers tend to want to “party” as well as use it as a means to run from something else in their lives, similar to an alcoholic abusing alcohol, or a prescription drug abuser abusing their meds. Like all ways of medicating, there is a limit on knowing when to say when. Now this limit may be at different levels on different days, but they key here is to know your body and to not dive in to this medicating process in an abusive way. Since there is a wide range of potency in all types of marijuana, it is important to get to know your own body and its reaction to the different types of weed.
Marijuana – The New Social Lubricant
These days people smoke weed just about as much as people drink alcoholic beverages. There is a social acceptance amongst other fellow smokers, and this can lead to peer pressures of people trying to be able to “hang” with other smokers. If this sounds like you, then I suggest being very careful about your decision making skills, or it could end up with bad consequences regarding operating a moving vehicle, machinery, or even being able to carry on intelligent conversations in a social scenario. One bad trait I commonly see is that people tend to become more anti-social the more stoned they get(this is when getting some munchies out and watching a movie is one of the best sobering things one can do, or taking a nap and sleeping it off). This does not go for everybody, but I do see it a lot. There are always exceptions to every situation.
I always suggest that it is very important to know your limits for anything you do, especially when it comes to knowing what you are putting in your body. This will take some time to understand, so approach with caution. There will be times when you take one hit too many just because you may have come across a more potent weed than you are used to, or the weed is a type of “creeper bud” that takes a little while to have its effects come out, so it is always good to know what you are smoking, if not by name, then by taste. An avid smoker will probably be able to decipher the potency of the weed by the smell or taste of it. Again, this just takes experience.
Cons of Marijuana
One of the biggest negatives about smoking weed I can think of is the fact that it may hold someone back from getting a good job. There are a lot of employers out there that require pre-employment drug testing as well as random urine analysis. Hopefully one day there will be a question on job applications that ask if you are prescribed medical marijuana so this will no longer be a factor in getting a job or not. There are, of course, some jobs where I can see it may be important to not be high(or stoned) when performing in a high risk environment, like using heavy machinery or if other people’s lives are at stake. For now, I think employers just want to know if you can put the pipe down for a few days and you do not have an abusive problem with the herb.
Know your limits when balancing the Pros and Cons of Marijuana
There are always those “cleansing” drinks and pills out there available at your local head shops and nutritional stores, but they are never 100% effective. If you choose this route, this is where sometimes the gamble on passing the drug test is one of those important decisions you have to make and live with the consequences if you do not pass. I believe if the job is important enough, then it is best to just do the natural cleanse to not have any doubt about passing the test. Some employers don’t even do urine screens, but they swab the inner cheek of your mouth to get the results. Again, there is no 100% chance of passing this unless you just refrain from using for about a month. I guess if you have a condition so sever that you cannot go a day without using, then getting a job that drug tests is most likely out of the question.
